How to Prevent your Nasal Allergy?

By Alex Chong Do you know why and how your nose could feel itching and sensitive? The substances that cause itching and sensitive of your nose are called allergens. These include pollen, mold, dust mites, certain foods, latex, animal dander, and others. These allergens sensitize the nasal mucosal membrane through a sensitization process, which typically involves a few types of cell in our body, such as macrophage, lymphocyte and mast cell. In the beginning of the sensitization, allergens penetrate through the mucosal surface in our nasal passage. The easiness of the allergens penetrate through the mucosal surface is due to the deficiency of IgA antibodies, which main function is eliminating micro organisms that adhere to the mucosal surface. Usually, patients, who allergic to the allergen, have lower level of IgA antibodies. The second step of the sensitization process is scavenging of the allergen by the macrophage cell. Macrophage cell is the large scavenger cell in the blood, whose function is eating up antigen, which is from outside of our body. During the scavenging process, macrophage cells also pass information about the invasion of foreign antigen to the lymphocyte cell, which involves several enzymes. Lymphocytes are stimulated by this information and multiplied to transform into plasma cells, which would synthesize IgE antibodies. IgE antibodies move to the mast and basophil cells around the eye, mouth and nose via tissue fluid and blood where they bind to the mast and basophil cells. When an allergen forms a bridge between two IgE molecules on the mast or basophil cells surface, histamine, which is a primary chemical mediator, will be released. This chemical will stimulate exocrine glands, contract smooth muscles in the bronchi, dilate blood vessels and increase their permeability and cause itch. Second chemical; prostaglandin, which is a secondary mediator, is synthesized in all types of cell and this chemical will cause inflammation around the mucosal surface inside the nostril. How to avoid nasal allergy? We knew that nasal allergy is caused by the allergen; therefore, the first method to avoid nasal allergy is eliminating the allergen in our house or room. People who are allergic to house dust may not have allergy to the road or field dust. This is because house dust containing house dust mite, which is the major allergic component. Mites like to live in mattresses and box spring that containing cotton fillers or kapok. So, we should replace this thing to foam rubber encased with durable impervious material. Besides, we also should replace eiderdown, blankets and pillows with the one that are less hospitable to mites. In addition, dust-collecting upholstered furniture and carpets should not keep in the room because it accumulates dust mites. To keep the house dust mites low in our house, we should vacuum-clean our house frequently. Allergy condition for the people who are allergic to animal dander can improve quickly if they remove their animal from the house. However, if the particular persons allergy condition is too critical, his nose may still feel itching for a period of some few months after removal of the animal. This is due to the animal dander that has left in the furniture and carpets. If the allergy continues for a longer period of time, it may due to an indirect exposure to hidden allergenic substances or other allergens. The second allergen that could cause nasal allergy is pollen. Pollen is released from the tree or grass seasonally. They can just go through a short period of systemic steroid treatment, which could allow them to live an almost normal life during this short period of pollen season. Pollen season is in the late spring and early summer in the seasonal country but it is almost 10 months long in the non-seasonal country. To avoid pollen outdoor, I think the only way is wearing filtration mask or make sure you have taken antihistamine medicine before going out. However, indoor pollen could be reduced by installing electrostatic air cleaner, HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) Filters, air conditioning, dehumidifier, humidifier and ionizer (negative ion generator). Electrostatic air cleaner is also called as electrostatic precipitator. It consists a fan, which is used to draw the air that containing particles to pass through electrical charged plate where the particle is trapped. HEPA filtration is very efficient to relieve hay fever and asthma symptoms. It can relieve the hay fever and asthma symptoms within ten minutes to half an hour after switching on the equipment. When the potassium permanganate and charcoal is combined with the HEPA filter, it can clear the big particulate matter like dust and pollen as well as chemical odor. This is because potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent, which could decompose most of the dust and organic substances; whereas, charcoal could adsorb most of the volatile organic substances. Air conditioning is also one of equipment that can reduce pollen count in a closed room air to around zero. Usually, pollen level in an unfiltered room with window open is about one-third the outdoor level. With this level, it is high enough to aggravate symptoms in anyone with pollen allergy. Similar to electrostatic air cleaner, air conditionings coils and filters need to be cleaned frequently to prevent mold contamination. Besides, air conditionings cooling temperature should not be set to too low because air that too cold can aggravate respiratory allergy. It is better for them who have asthma or nasal allergy and other respiratory allergies to breathe moist air in order that their nose and bronchial passages will not dry up. There is not a problem for people who live in equatorial and tropical country because humidity level in these countries is very high. However, this level may be too high and it can promote growth of house dust mites, molds and fungi and tends to carry more dust and pollen. The suitable level of humidity in the house is about 35 to 50 percent. With this level, people wont feel uncomfortable and it also could prevent proliferation of allergen around the house. Therefore, people who live in the seasonal countries need a humidifier in winter and a dehumidifier in the summer; whereas, people who live in the non seasonal countries need a dehumidifier to reduce their house moisture level to prevent growing of molds, dust mites and fungi. Humidifier and dehumidifier need to be clean frequently with stiff brush. Ionizer or negative ion generator is a machine that generates negative ion into the air. Particles surface is positively charged; therefore, when negative ion is attracted to the particles surface, its positive charges are electrically neutralized by these negative ions. Particles with neutralized surface are tend to deposit on the wall or floor. With this equipment, particles in the air can be reduced with the condition that the air in the room is not blown up by a fan. Therefore, in order to make the house free of dust particles, wall, floor, carpet and furniture have to be vacuum-cleaned frequently. Integrity Is Not Optional

By P Maillet It started with a walk on the beach with my sister on a day when I was very, very burdened. Coming home, I went to check my email, and there was a beautiful picture with inspirational words that so touched me that tears came unbidden and flooded my face. This was a God thing, that was certainly evident, because the words on that beautiful background repeated and addressed some of the exact sentiments I had used to express my turmoil to my sister. It was like a light going on serendipity? and thus was born the idea for a new ministry. Touched by the way that message lifted me, I decided to begin a collection of photos with the intention of doing the same for others putting beautiful insights I had garnered over the years, especially in times of trouble, and sending them out to comfort and encourage others. Going online to the Google search box, I typed in photos. I squealed with glee as hundreds of sites hosting photos came up on my screen. So I began the search. First, I created folders in my computer and called them, Landscapes, Sunsets, Oceans, and Floral, and then over the course of the next few weeks I searched for the best photos to put into them. I took them into my graphics program and made beautiful pictures with inspirational words which I sent out to the people on my email list. Surely, I thought, these messages will meet with people who need a lift, an inspiration, just as the one like these that so inspired me that day after the walk on the beach. I was on a roll. One morning not long after, I came downstairs for my daily prayer and meditation time. No sooner had I sat down in my large easy-chair, but the words copyrighted materials blazed themselves into my consciousness. A cold shudder came over me as I thought on those words. Oh no!!! Copyrights? What does that mean? On photos??? I squirmed as I thought of the hundreds of beautiful photos on my computer possibly being copyrighted and therefore unusable to me. Surely people dont put copyrights on photos? I decided to take a look after my prayer time. But my prayer time wouldnt go. I couldnt pray. There was something between God and me. The heavens were as brass to me. I wasnt making contact. And of course, I knew. I had to take care of this matter. So I got up and went to the computer, dragging my heart which felt like it had a one-ton anchor holding it down. What if I have to delete all those beautiful pictures? Oh the hours I put into searching for them! I wasnt sure how I was going to determine whether the photos I had were copyrighted or not, because when I saved them, I had changed the filenames to things like, Landscapes -Green01. In other words, there was no way now to determine where each one came from. What to do? I went and got some chocolate and a cappuccino, and began at the Google search box, typing in, photos. I brought up the sites one by one and searched them to see how one could determine whether there are copyrights on the photos. After quite a long time searching, I saw usually in very small print, and on the very bottom of the sites Terms of Use. Clicking on that, I felt faint after seeing one after another, after another, saying, These photos are copyrighted I spent some time trying to read the long treatises on terms and came across words like intellectual property, which I had never heard of before. Needless to say, after a few hours of this I realized that there was no way I could keep the photos I had so gleefully saved onto my computer. They were from many sites, and Id never be able to find each one again. I would have to delete them. All of them. My beautiful pictures. I went to bed with a very heavy heart. The next day, I deleted the photos, and began a whole new search. Starting at Google, I typed in copyright-free photos, and spent countless hours finding sites which advertised free photos, or free stock photos. And slowly, I rebuilt my library -- very slowly -- because the number of sites hosting free photos was of course far less. But I was pleased that I had found within myself the grace to obey, to do things right, no matter what. I knew God would not bless this ministry if I resisted the conviction he brought me over copyright infringement. Some time later, and after having sent out many beautiful free photos with inspirational messages on them, I came down for my prayer time early one morning and no sooner had I begun, when the words came into my heart, many free photos have restrictions. There arent words to describe the reaction inside me. Oh no! doesnt come close. I couldnt believe it. This time I was angry. I had obediently deleted the hundreds of photos I had so painstakenly downloaded the first time around. This is too much. Theres NO WAY Im going to do that again. I got up and began doing housework. I was so angry I was trembling. The very thought of it! I just cant go through that again. No! No! NO!!! But as I shoved that vacuum cleaner over the more-than-clean rug, I knew inside that Id have to, because I knew the skies would be brass until I did. The most important thing in life to me is the time I spend with the Lord in the mornings, sharing my heart with him and desiring to receive anything from him that hes willing to impart to me. Ive been doing this for years, and the stories I have to tell from it are many. And now there was something standing again between God and me, and I was the only one who could remove it. So with a heart almost too heavy to bear, I went to the computer and deleted the photos, tears streaming down my face. All that work! How can I do this right, Lord? If there IS a way, please show me. I typed into Google, "photos no restrictions." And needless to say, not a lot of sites came up, but there WERE a few. So I began taking a look. Most of the sites contained a mix of photos with and without restrictions. I learned that before downloading a photo, I would have to click to bring up its properties, and then check them one by one for terms. Many of them did have restrictions. Many of them stated that the photo couldnt be used unless there was accreditation on them, for example, "photo by Jane Smith." And many said you couldnt "modify" them, crop them, resize them, etc. I couldnt use any of these, because I do edit them a lot, recolor and resize. So that left me with painfully little to work with. But I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and said, "Ok, I have to do this right. I will not download a photo unless it plainly states that there are no copyrights OR restrictions. And from now on, I will keep the site name in the file name so that I will know exactly where each picture came from." And thus I began the long search process once again, for photos sufficiently beautiful to create the atmosphere I desire for the message, but without copyrights OR restrictions. Also, the scenery had to have areas of blank space within them where words could be put on. "Busy" pictures were out. Of course, all of this greatly narrowed down the number of photos I had to choose from. But I was determined because I knew that God would not bless anything unclean, illegal, or wrong in any way. The rest is amazing. The very first night I began my new search, I happened on a site that featured a very few pictures that would be appropriate. This was a joyless endeavor at this point, because I suspected that there just arent any out there which would be truly beautiful but also having no restrictions whatsoever. I was thinking to myself that if I could find five or ten, then I could recolor them in my graphics program and re-use them again and again. After maybe two hours of searching, I happened to notice a link on one site to another site Id never heard of, and I clicked on it. ...EUREKA!!! I found myself on a new-ish site whose very FEATURE was that it was a repository of photos with no restrictions whatsoever. My heart began pumping hard but I told myself to calm down, because there HAD to be a catch somewhere. So I spent the next hour pouring over that site as though with a magnifying glass, looking for fine print anywhere which would tell me that this "free" site had SOME restrictions but there was none. I could hardly believe it! I was so exhausted that I went to bed, thinking that tomorrow when I have a clear head, Ill look again and surely find the fine print. But there was none. That site had no terms, and no restrictions whatsoever. Something that amazed me later is that this new site would not come up on a Google search. Just for fun, I tried to retrace my steps to find out how I had stumbled on that site, but was unable to. I could not find the place I had been which had a link to this site. And again I just knew this was a God thing. I now have several hundred new photos appropriate for putting messages on them. I saved each with a filename containing the name of the site I got it from, and the number of the picture. Shortly afterwards, my ministry began to explode. Resources started coming to my attention that I never knew existed. Not only am I creating more beautiful and inspired messages, but there is a strong urging upon my heart to begin to write too. From the new resources I "stumbled on," I learned more in two weeks than I had learned in all the time since the beginning of this. Walking with the Lord is an awesome adventure filled with surprises as well as challenges. If theres one thing Ive learned from the beginning, it is that there MUST be integrity in all that we do, otherwise the blessing of God will not be upon it and were wasting our time. Sometimes the demand for integrity will lead to great frustrations and disappointments. But if a person desires to walk with the Master, and commits himself to obeying even when it hurts, that obedience sets forth streams of blessings one could never have anticipated. Its easy to say in retrospect, and excruciatingly difficult to do before the fact. Let this testimony encourage the reader to make integrity the foundation of every endeavor, and thus be a vessel the Lord can use "without restriction!" Does the Bible state what we must do to receive what we ask from God? Yes, it does in John 3:21-22: "21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight." (KJV) The purpose of this article is to describe four keys to receiving blessings from God. Keep God's Commandments We must keep God's 10 commandments. Obedience is one important way that we show that we truly love God as shown in I John 5:3: "3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." (KJV) Be a Profitable Servant What must we do if we are to be profitable servants to God and please him? Luke shows us in Luke 17:7-10. "7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? 8And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? 9Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. 10So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." God is pleased when we do more than is required of us in our zeal for serving him. Be a Cheerful Giver When we become profitable servants by doing more than is required of us, we can begin to receive blessings from God. What must we do to receive even more blessings? The answer is in II Corinthians 9:6-8: "6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" (KJV) If we wish to reap a bountiful harvest of blessings, we must sow the field bountifully with the seeds of cheerful giving. If we want to experience real, abundant living, we must practice real, abundant giving. We are to purpose in our hearts to give to God and others. We should plan our giving carefully. We should give because we want to do so, not because we have to give. We can give of our money, our time, and our prayers. Is there another way in which we can give to God? II Corinthians 9:9 shows another way to give to God: "9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever." (KJV) Proverbs 19:17 also describes the blessings that come from giving to the poor: "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again." (KJV) Giving to the poor is like loaning money to God. God signs the promissory note for what we give to the poor. God will never default, but the note is not a demand note. It is not a note that we can force God to pay on our demand at the time of our choosing. God decides when to repay the debt. Jesus Christ came that we might have life more abundantly, but we will receive most of our reward in the Kingdom of God. Walk by Faith As we walk down lifes trail, we often cannot see far ahead of us. Sometimes the trail has twists and turns that we did not see. Sometimes fog covers the trail, and we need the light of Gods word to see the next blaze. We are to walk down lifes trail with faith as shown in Hebrews 11:6. "6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (KJV) Yes, we must walk by faith, which is the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). We need to follow the trail that God has shown us. We do not need to see all the trail as long as we see the next blaze that God has marked to let us know we are the right trail. Just as human parents provide for their children, God as our Father wants to give us good things (Matthew 7:11). We are to seek his will for our lives as we walk by faith. If we do so, the rewards from God are sure, but they may not come in the form or at the time that we might desire. Conclusion The are several keys to opening the windows of heaven to receive abundant blessings from God. We must (1) keep Gods commandments, (2) be a profitable servant, (3) be a cheerful giver, and (4) walk by faith. These keys are not the only keys.
